The experienced attorneys of Pecoraro & Schiesel LLP are dedicated to providing the best possible legal representation to individuals and families who have been seriously injured in the New York metropolitan area.

Although located in New York City, the skilled attorneys of Pecoraro & Schiesel LLP are well-equipped to handle serious cases throughout the state.

The Firm handles a variety of personal injury matters, as set forth below:

Construction labor makes up one of the three most dangerous occupations in the United States today, each year producing thousands of debilitating injuries and wrongful deaths resulting from dangerous and hazardous conditions created through negligence and/or violations of New York State Labor Law, OSHA or other regulatory violations.
Slip and fall accidents can happen anywhere and can cause serious personal injury. Most slip and falls happen in commercial settings, such as grocery stores, drug stores, office buildings, construction sites, gas stations and malls, but they also happen on private property. Premises Liability accidents can include toxic exposure, animal attacks, swimming pool accidents and amusement park ride accidents.
Legal claims that arise from motor vehicle accidents are typically governed by the law of negligence. Any individual who negligently operates a motor vehicle may be required to pay damages to an injured victim, whether they are another driver, passenger, pedestrian or bicyclist. Besides automobile accidents, we also represent those injured on trains, subways, buses, airplanes, boats and ships.
Cities, Towns, and other municipalities or their agencies usually receive additional protection from claims by very short filing requirements. For example, to pursue a claim against the City of New York, an injured party is required to file a Notice of Claim within 90 days of the accident upon which it is based. For this reason, if you are involved in an accident in which a municipality may be responsible, you must consult an attorney immediately.
We handle Medical, Dental and Legal Malpractice actions. Malpractice is the failure of the provider from following the accepted standards of practice for his or her profession in the community where the service is rendered. If the professional was careless, lacked proper skills or disregarded standardized rules resulting in injury to an individual, a jury may find the provider liable for malpractice.
Not all injury cases arise to the level of malpractice, but you may still have a claim for negligence against a hospital, nursing home or other such medical facility. Institutional negligence occurs when a hospital, nursing home, “surgicenter” or other health care facility violates its independent duty to supervise and ensure that care is safely provided in its facility, resulting in injury to a patient.
The number of dangerous, toxic substances in the workplace environment has grown significantly over the past 50 years. Some toxic substances are shown to cause substantial injury to people, such as lead-based paint (linked to brain damage, especially in children), asbestos (linked to lung cancer and restrictive lung disease), dry cleaning and other solvents (linked to brain damage and major organ damage), pesticides such as dioxin and DDT (linked to birth injuries) and toxic landfill waste (linked to leukemia).
Defective products cause thousands of injuries every year. From recalled vehicles due to defective airbags, to recalled pieces of furniture due to toppling risks, too many products that contain hazardous defects are sold to the American public. If you are injured by a defective product of any type, you may have a claim for damages against the designer and manufacturer, as well as any distributor, importer, or seller in the chain of distribution who is liable for injury caused by a defective product.
A survey by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently determined that more than 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs every year with children between the ages of 5-9 comprising about 60% of that statistic. Having been bitten by a dog can be a physically scarring and emotionally traumatic experience, and in many instances could have been prevented by following leash laws and other laws involving restraints, and by accounting for possible threats one’s dog may pose to children, strangers or other animals in different situations.
